Ah, the Nexus. For those not appearing in person, there are terminals, vidscreens, blackboards...and artefact books? An old tome to be sure, open to a page inked with tight, slightly cramped handwriting:

With the solstice near upon, at the least in my realm, a question comes to mind:

To the rest of you, good folk, what - in your realm - is magic? What do you make of it?

An associate of mine has quite a talent for sleight of hand, chicanery and such that can give the appearance of sorcery, but that is all it is - sleight. Some cannot tell the difference.

True spellcraft is my art, but mine is for the most part transparent - abjuration, protective spells and subtle enchantments, the practical and the informational. Some might not call these things magic at all, for there is little spectacle to it.

But there is a different side to true spellcraft, conjuring creatures, tossing fireballs and lightning, raising the dead and shaping the earth. Such things are grand, they can be seen by all and sundry. This, to many, is 'real' magic.

What say you, for your realm and plane?
